Capacity & development

Planned≈ 240 MW

Power for servers, GPUs, storage & networking (IT power)

Approximately 240 MW IT initial-phase design containing the 48 MW starter. Accepted as proposed capacity, with the full-phase target year held for date reconciliation. The later 1 GW-plus pathway is not an additional contribution.

Proposed or approved design capacity. Included in the planning inventory, not a dated delivery forecast or a claim of committed supply.

Scope and context

  • Proposed off-grid AI precinct near Broome, developed through a partnership with the Karajarri People. No precise campus street or coordinates are verified.
  • The dated April 2026 WA Investments article targets 2032 for the 240 MW first stage. The undated company page targets 2030 for a smaller 48 MW tranche. They are retained as different scopes; neither is assumed to supersede the other.
  • The article also says full-scale capacity by mid-2030, an internally inconsistent date which is not adopted or silently changed to mid-2030s.
  • Capacity and delivery dates are assessed separately. The 48 MW starter sits within the approximately 240 MW initial phase and is not added again. Full-phase timeline remains unresolved.

Meridien targets a 48 MW training-compute starter tranche

The developer targets 48 MW IT ready for service in 2030 within an initial 240 MW phase and describes AI training with liquid cooling. A 1 GW-plus expansion pathway is a larger nested ambition.

How to read this: Proposed design and delivery targets, not installed GPUs, contracts or operating load. The 48 MW starter is nested within the approximately 240 MW first-phase IT envelope now included once in the planning inventory. The whole-phase delivery date remains unresolved.

Meridien phase-one investment plan in April 2026

WA Investments describes approximately 240 MW of phase-one IT processing capacity near Broome, supported by 1.4 GW renewable infrastructure. Its targets are an investment decision in 2029 and first-stage commercial operations in 2032.

How to read this: The 240 MW includes the later developer-described 48 MW starter tranche and is not additive. An internally inconsistent mid-2030 full-scale date in this article is not used. The undated developer page is not asserted to supersede this dated article.
